This was super glamorous black tie event – Joanne and Graham’s the Oddfellows Chester wedding. My brief was to shoot it in Black and White and sexy! Oddfellows wedding photography in Chester was going beyond quirky!
Oddfellows – one of the glamorous Chester wedding venues
I loved the brief for this wedding: Black and White and sexy! Oddfellows, Chester was of course a fabulous fit for this grown-up glamorous winter wedding with all it’s quirky details, top-quality service and sexy nooks to hide and take some pictures.
This was also the wedding where I had a chance to flee in a getaway white Rolls-Royce phantom convertible. The bride was getting ready in the stylish Chester Grosvenor Hotel right in the centre of the historic city. As she elegantly stepped out of the hotel all the shoppers stood still under famous Chester clock. Within seconds the bride, her bridesmaids and her wedding photographer were gone. I enjoyed the thrill getting into the moving car as I was taking pictures of it. Like in a movie!! It felt like one of us was a Bond girl!
We had only a short drive to the Oddfellows where super sharp looking ushers greeted the bridal party. I love the picture I took of Joanne walking up those steep steps to the ceremony room. He dress, her shoes and her elegance was totally on point!
Candlelit wedding ceremony
The ceremony was the moment which Joanna and Graham were waiting for a fair few years. And it was really emotional. I was standing in the back of the room, taking pictures of course and sharing in the flow of happiness which took over the room once the words “you may kiss your bride” have been finally uttered by the official lips.
Then there was lots and lots of champagne. And everyone got a chance to be a Polaroid’s photographer, which I didn’t mind at all. It was quite entertaining, actually. Purely from the storytelling prospective, of course. And speeches were very funny too. Guests sitting, reclining, draping themselves over sides of arm chairs, leaning and crouching, most with a glass of bubbly in hand – it was enchanting.
Super, super wedding. I wish there will be more briefs like this in the near future. I loved it!
Some of my favourite images – enjoy x
PS Also, I am convinced that the bridesmaid was Lily James!!! See for yourself!!
