I absolutely love photographing weddings in Chester Zoo! Not only we have a stunning manor house for any indoor photography, but also the award winning gardens and of course, the amazing animals!
Lawrie is absolutely crazy about all animals, so for her and Tom the Zoo was the perfect location to get married. She has started her day with her mum, her gran and her bridesmaids at the DoubleTree Hilton, which is only a short drive from the Zoo.
During the morning preparations all ladies (apart from the gran!!) were wearing the most appropriate we-are-having-a-wedding-at-the-zoo outfits – giraffe print PJs! Once the hair and make up was done, the bridesmaids put on their beautiful turquoise colour dresses and the bride did final adjustments of her exquisite Cinderella dress, we all drove to the gates of the Chester Zoo’s Oakfield House.
The emotional ceremony was followed by all the congratulations, showering with confetti and a handful of formal-ish group photographs.
We did a couple of walks around the Zoo with Lawrie and Tom. First, it was only the newlyweds and me – much needed time for the couple to spend together just looking at each other, soaking up the fact that they just got married.
We went around the zoo later in the evening again, but this time with the family and friends. After wet start to the day, the sun was now bright and warm and we made another great set of images!
The evening party started after dusk and only the Chanel 4 film crew were still awake and filming the animals in the shadows for their “Secret Life of the Zoo” documentary. Even the lions stopped barking. However, the entertainment in the Oakfield House continued into the night!
It was a fantastic wedding!
