North Wales wedding photographer Menai BridgeNorth Wales Winter Wedding

This must be one of my favourite UK weddings this year. Yes, it was winter and yes the days are short and often wet on Anglesey. But we were blessed with the glorious sunshine and have captured some amazing wedding portraits with Anna and Berwyn. The dawn came with a thunder, lighting and two inches of hale and snow in my driveway. I was ready for whatever the weather was preparing to throw at this Anglesey wedding photographer… But by mid morning the clouds have cleared and the overwhelming feel of love, anticipation, excitement and  sunshine settled over this gorgeous North Wales corner.

Anna and Berwyn were really keen to have some beautiful wedding portraits which would capture the beauty of their beloved Anglesey. So we created a plan.  I came to visit them in the summer while I was camping with my family and friends in nearby Moelfre. I came to love camping in North Wales and have explored it over the years with my family. Mind you, driving through the narrow and twisty Anglesey roads in November was a new experience for me!

Beach wedding portraits

Having planned an early wedding ceremony, Anna and Berwyn gave us plenty of time to drive to the Red Wharf Bay and to the Menai Bridge for wedding portraits. I don’t normally have the luxury of a full hour for this part of the wedding photography. Most of my wedding couples book me for my documentary style, which I love. Yet it was absolutely amazing to have the opportunity and time to create a great variety of wedding portraits. If anything, I struggled to choose only a handful of wedding portraits, so you will see lots of them below 🙂 I must say I was amazed how Anna and Berwyn braved the chilling wind. You wouldn’t guess it from the pictures, but it was barely 5 degrees above zero!

Famous Welsh singing at weddings

Before you scroll down to see some beautiful North Wales wedding photographs, let me mention one more thing. Welsh singing. You know I’ve been to a fair number of weddings and heard a lot of music and singing at ceremonies. It’s always beautiful. However, the opening hymn of Anna and Berwyn’s ceremony literally took my breath away. This tiny little church in the middle of unbounded Welsh countryside raised the roof with the “Morning has Broken”. The congregation was helped by some incredible trio of singers. The sound and the spirit were spine-tingling and I may have had something caught in my eye at the same time. I don’t remember ever having that feeling before… Thank you for giving it to me.

Enjoy the pictures.

Yana xx
